2020 NBA Free Agency Tracker: Gordon Hayward Headed To Charlotte

The NBA’s free agency period kicks off Friday at 6 p.m. ET, with a class highlighted by Anthony Davis, Fred VanVleet and Gordon Hayward, among others.

Leading up to the frenzy, the NBA has already seen a host of marquee players on the move. Oklahoma City reportedly shipped all-star point guard Chris Paul to Phoenix. The Warriors are set to use their $17.2 million trade exception to acquire veteran wing Kelly Oubre Jr. Portland plans to trade for Enes Kanter in a three-way deal with Boston and Memphis, according to ESPN. 

Now, all attention shifts to the stars on the open market. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported Davis is “on course” to return to the Los Angeles Lakers, but it could be a few days before it becomes official. The New York Knicks and Atlanta Hawks could be potential destinations for Fred VanVleet, according to the Athletic, but the 26-year-old point guard could return to Toronto. Gordon Hayward opted out of his $34.2 million contract with the Boston Celtics, opening a plethora of possibilities on where he might play next.

- Paul Millsap is returning to the Denver Nuggets on a one-year, $10 million deal, according Stadium’s Shams Charania.
- Rajon Rondo is headed to the Atlanta Hawks on a two-year, $15 million deal, according to Stadium’s Shams Charania and ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
- Jaylen Adams is signing a two-way deal with the Milwaukee Bucks, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
- Pat Connaughton is rejoining the Milwaukee Bucks on a three-year, $16 million deal, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. The second year is a player option.
